The app on your own computer is free, and so is checking a record. You pay only when you want more pins on the hosted witness than the free 10 a month.
You hold your record on your own computer. We keep counts and paid accounts, never your record's content.

Install the app, keep your record on your own computer, and check it as often as you like. Checking a record never needs an account, a key, or our permission.
10 pins a month per key on the hosted witness, free. A pin puts your record's fingerprint with an outside witness, so anyone can check it has not changed since.
The app carries its own witness client: one switch in the app, Pin to our witness, turns pinning on.

Pin packs
Need more than the free 10? Buy a pack.
Packs never expire. They are used after the month's free pins run out.
Packs and the free 10 are pins on the hosted witness at witness.arcaeon.io, used by agents and API callers with a key. The desktop app's Pin to our witness switch pins to a different witness, at arcaeon.io/witness/v1, under its own daily allowance with nothing to buy. A pack does not add pins to the app.

The short answers.
Do unused pins roll over?
No. The 10 free pins reset each month. Packs never expire and are used after your free pins run out.
Who can buy?
Anyone, including an agent paying its own way for the person it works for. For agents.
What happens to my record if I stop paying?
Nothing. It stays on your computer, the app keeps watching, and checking stays free.
